What is Keep Voting Simple?
Preferential Ballots, Ranked Choice Voting, Single Transferable Votes, Mixed Member Proportional Representation – are anything but simple. And when various forms of these methods have been tried in other jurisdictions, they have resulted in unstable minority governments, frequent elections, higher costs, voter confusion and lower voter turnout.
The foundation of our democracy is the concept of accountable representation – a Member of Parliament who represents their constituents and their community. Changes to our electoral system will weaken this bond, and place more power in the backrooms of political parties.
